This New Blog

As i sat at work today flipping through the most beautifully decorated homes, i saw this wall grouping that was similar to mine...it was all white frames with black & white photos in them and a few white plates(i was thinking of adding plates to my grouping). the author explained how the all white frames drew more attention to the pictures themselves. i then heard my friend's voice explaining to me that i should keep all my frames the same color, her reasoning...that's how they do it in all the magazines. well, not to be one who conforms, not only did i get different frames, i painted them different colors too.(i also plan on getting different colored plates as well!)

at least the pictures ARE black & white...

Then i started thinking about the throw pillows on my couch. Some i made myself, others I purchased. All different. Quite a variety if i do say so myself. sure the colors at least coordinate, but i like the poetic chaos of the whole effect, then i thought ,"yeah, it's like a hodge podge of pillows, wait...not just the pillows, but pretty much all me decorating. WAIT>>>if the way you decorate your home is a reflection of yourself...then I must be a ...HODGE PODGE!!" i love it, because yes, i am. i have been in recovery for almost 2 years now and when the flood gates of emotions opened, i have discovered more than one feeling buried in there. so you see, i am not so wayyyyy off by declaring the affore mentioned statement. I embrace it.

this year in my road to recovery, i have incorporated several new tools as i continue on my journey to wholeness. crafting being the most prominate simply because something truly magical happens when i throw myself into any project.the end results are such that i feel a strong connection to each piece and had a little trouble a first parting with any of them. From tassels to pillows, to purses, therapy, 12 step studies, group meetings, blogging, journaling and an active devotional life, i am in pursuit of a healthy non destructive lifestyle.

Thanks for letting me share.
